Welcome to Cooperative Housing at Ohio State, CHAOS!
Do you like eating delicious fresh fruit? Do you like meeting amazing, diverse people and building lasting friendships? Do you like a house that is all your own? Music, murals, color, sustainability and JOY!
We believe in these things, and if you do to please join us in an effort to start the first student housing cooperative at Ohio State University, aiming to open our doors Fall 2012.
What's a coop?
A coop is a living situation in which all residents share food, housekeeping duties, and ownership of the home. The residents are member-owners of a non-profit organization founded on the Rochdale Principles, which takes responsibility for the mortgage with each member paying a share. We believe in living as sustainably as possible and working to make our community and world a better place.
Student coops exist all over the country based on the cooperative model, anywhere from UC Berkeley, to Texas, to UMichigan at Ann Arbor.
How Do I Get Involved?
You can get involved by joining the student organization, just fill out the form on the student organization page to add yourself to our roster! Additionally, you are welcome to come to any of the events and meetings listed on the calendar below.
Over the course of this year we will be planning — where to live, how to form the non-profit organization, and logistics; to do so we have started a student organization recognized by the university, "Cooperative Housing", advised by the manager of off-campus housing Dilnavaz Cama, and the senior director Willie J. Young.
